Dogfish Ballast Hopper

The Industrial Diesel & Railway Preservation Group is proud to announce its latest acquisition – Dogfish Ballast Hopper DB983604 (built Shildon 1960).

After its life on the main line railway, the wagon seems to have been used of the private section of the Flixborough Branch. With the closure of the branch to regular traffic, the wagon left on the wharf complete with its final load of ballast. Work is now underway to clear and redevelop part of the wharf so the wagon was offered to us.

With the slight relaxation of the lockdown, and a re-start of construction work, the wagon needed moving.

More details will be added to this page as the history of the waggon is uncovered and the restoration progresses.
